    Believed by many to have been Africa's original "Garden of Eden," Ngorongoro Crater ranks among the world's largest calderas, and contains one of the oldest and most diverse ecosystems on Earth. Within this dormant volcano's walls lie short grasslands, swamps, forests and a freshwater lake – all of which inspire a continuous parade of migrating wildlife. You'll not only embark on a game drive in this "lost world," but a private picnic lunch inside the crater will be a highlight of your trip.

    Learn the ways of the Maasai at a traditional boma

    A highlight of your family's Tanzania safari is your visit to a Maasai boma – a nomadic village preserving traditonal Maasai cultural customs, consisting of small huts made of mud and cow dung for sleeping and cooking. Can you picture living here with your family? During your visit, Maasai villagers will demonstrate their spear-throwing, bow-and-arrow and other traditional skills. You'll also have an opportunity to visit a local primary school to talk with the children and their teacher.

    Our first moving safari's mobile camp follows migrating wildlife

    Every year, over a million wildebeest and more than 200,000 zebras make a trek across Tanzania from the southern reaches of Serengeti National Park to the Masai Mara National Reserve and back again, instinctively driven to constantly search for food and water. On Tauck's first "moving safari," follow this "Great Migration" with a three-night stay in tented accommodations at Legendary Serengeti Mobile Camp – moving with the wildlife as they traverse the heart of Serengeti National Park, and heading out on game drives each morning and afternoon.
